Parliamentary committee unhappy with reconstruction work

Parliament’s Public Accounts committee has said it is not satisfied with post-earthquake reconstruction work.

The committee has also directed the National Reconsctruction Authority to expedite work and to report progress to the commiteee.

At a committee meeting on Wednesday MPs told reconstruction chief Govinda Pokharel to finish disbursing the first installment of government grant for people who lost their house in the 2015 quake. Similarly, the committee has instructed the authority to disburse the second tranche within three months.

The committee has also directed Pokharel to submit a progress report every month.
