Opposition tells Finance Minister to free budget plan from political prejudices

Nepali Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki

Kathmandu, May 12

The main opposition Nepali Congress has told the government to make sure that the next year’s budget plan will be free of political prejudices.

Taking part in the discussion on principles and priorities of the budget plan in the House of Representatives on Sunday, former finance minister and Nepali Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki requested the Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada to rise above political interests while formulating the plan.

The Minister’s failure to free himself from political prejudices would block the national development process, according to him.

He drew attention of the minister towards increasing trade deficit in the country and called on him to find a sustainable solution except the remittance.

Other former finance ministers including Baburam Bhattarai and Surendra Pandey also offered their suggestions to the Minister.
