On Martyrs’ Day, Nepali Congress leaders polish shoes ‘to clean up politics’

Nepali Congress leaders polish shoes during a campaign, in Naya Baneshwor, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Kathmandu, January 30

Some Nepali Congress leaders were seen polishing shoes of members of the public in Naya Baneshwor today. The leaders sat on the pavement and polished shoes of pedestrians turn by turn.

Leaders Chandra Bhandari, Dhana Raj Gurung among others participated in the event hosted by Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Foundation. The Foundation says the programme was organised to symbolise the need to clean up Nepali politics on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day.

“Nepali politics has turned dirty,” Gurung tells Onlinekhabar, “Our message is that politics should be cleaned up as we polish our shoes.”
