Kathmandu, April 16

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has called a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee as the party’s plan to merge with the CPN-Maoist Centre has been pushed into limbo.

The two communist parties had announced that they will unify the parties on April 22. However, they are yet to find agreements on key issues of the unified party. Of late, a serious trust deficit between the two leaders has been reported.

Therefore, it is expected that the meeting of powerful committee would make an appropriate headway.

UML Central Office Secretary Krishna Gopal Shrestha says the meeting will take place at 5 pm today.

Meanwhile, Oli is holding a meeting with the Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his official residence in Baluwatar today.
