A joint meeting of the Finance Committee and the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee of the House of Representatives, scheduled for Tuesday morning, could not take place.

The meeting fell short of the quorum required to commence discussions as majority members of the Finance Committee did not show up till 12:30 pm.

The meeting was scheduled for 11:30 am today.

The Finance Committee’s chairman Krishna Prasad Dahal told journalists in the afternoon that the lawmakers could not show up due to their busy schedules.

The meeting was scheduled to hold a discussion on the controversy surfaced in the licence issued to construct Marsyangdi-II Hydropower Project. The licence grantee, GMR of India, has reportedly sold the permit.

Meanwhile, Dahal said he was committed to probing into the issue. If necessary, a subcommittee would be formed for the task, according to him.
