Nirmala Pant Murder: SP Dilliraj Bista presents himself before court

Kanchanpur, March 19

Former Nepal Police SP Diliraj Bista, who was expelled by the force for his role in the hi-profile rape and murder of Nirmala Pant in Bimduttanagar, has presented himself before the district court.

Bista, who has been accused of destroying evidence in the case, reported to the court on Tuesday morning. The court had issued summons on Bista and DSP Angur GC, who oversaw investigation into the Nirmala Pant case. “Of the two people, only Bista has appeared before the court,” the court’s clerk Hari Krishna Awasthi told Onlinekhabar. Bista and GC had been on the run after the FIR was filed against them.

Bista and seven other police officials were implicate in the case after Nirmala’s mother filed an FIR against them. Six of the accused have been released on bail. A bench of Judge Rajendra Kumar Acharya released DSP Gyan Bahadur Sethi, Inspectors Ekendra Khadka and Jagdish Prasad Bhatta, SIs Hari SIngh Dhami and Ram Singh Dahmi and constable Chadni Saud on bail.
