Biratnagar, March 27
Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi says civic elections across the country will take place on May 14 and parties of the agitating Madheshi Morcha will also contest.
Nidhi, who arrived in Morang to attend a regional security meeting, said the government was creating an environment for the Madheshi Morcha to take part in the elections.
He said, “Althought there are talks of conducting elections in two phases, the government has already decided to do it in a single phase. For that we have already made the necessary security arrangements,” add the Home Minister.
Nidhi informed that the government is committed to forming a hi-level commission to look into the issue of provincial boundaries.
The Home Ministry is organising security meets in all regions ahead of the elections. Regional administrators, hi-ranking police officials and CDOs are taking part in the meeting.
