Nepal’s oldest hospital to get new surgery building

Nepal’s oldest hospital will son get a separate well-equipped building for surgery within the next two years.

While a new building is being built next to the historic hospital, officials are also procuring equipment required to run the facility when it is completed.

The new building is to have a post-operative ward; a 40-bed surgical ward; an Intensive Care Union (ICU); and a library. The new infrastructure will also be senior citizen and disabled-friendly.

 The whole project is estimated to cost Rs 3.85 billion.  The hospital, which started its services in 1947 BS with 15 beds, has now 450 beds. It has a separate trauma centre building.
