Kathmandu, July 19

The Kathmandu District Court on Thursday sent notorious sports betting suspect Nathamal Agrawal aka Nagraj to judicial custody as his trial continues.

SSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division says his personnel have taken him to the Central Jail after the court order.

Agrawal, who was also on the most wanted list of Indian Police, was arrested from Kathmandu around a month ago. Police had confiscated various documents related to gambling business, Rs 480,000 cash and a laptop from his possession.

Though various police units of Nepal had launched a manhunt against him, Agrawal was reportedly working from Goa of India. Some had believed him to be an Indian national before police found him.

Now, it has been said that he is a permanent resident of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City of Dhanusha district.

Police claim he is the mastermind behind most biggest betting incidents held in Nepal during international football and cricket tournaments.
