Kathmandu, December 11

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has informed that its mahasamiti meeting will officially begin in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Earlier, the party had announced the date of Friday to begin the meeting, which is expected to amend the party’s statute.

The party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma says the inauguration will be held on Saturday only. The delegates, however, have been urged to arrive in Kathmandu by Friday evening.

Sharma informs that the Central Working Committee will table the statute amendment proposal, political and financial reports in the evening on the first day. Discussions over the documents will begin the next day.

The CWC meeting on Monday endorsed the political report. However, it is yet to endorse the amendment proposal and the financial report.

Two factions of the party led  by Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Paudel are at odds over the amendment.
