The main opposition Nepali Congress has objected to the adjournment of House of Representatives meeting for next eight days at the time when the government is facing criticism from various sections of the public for its apathy to demands raised by Dr Govinda KC.

The party, which has already announced nationwide street protest programmes against the government and decided to obstruct Parliament meetings till demands of Dr KC are met, has accused the government of trying to bypass the House to avoid discussions.

Further, the ruling parties did not discuss the adjournment with the opposition, claims the party spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma in a statement issued this afternoon.

Owing to the Congress’ warning of obstruction, the Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a notice today to inform about the postponement of meeting till Friday next week.

Meanwhile, the opposition party says its protest programmes will continue on the streets to pile pressure for fulfilment of demands raised by the veteran medical education reform activist.
