Nepali Congress has agreed to cooperate with govt on national issues, says Dahal

Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal speaks at a function, in Chitwan, on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

Chitwan, January 8

Ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has agreed to cooperate with the incumbent government on ‘national issues’.

Dahal, however, does not clarify what national issues the two parties can cooperate on.

Speaking at a function in his home district of Chitwan today, the former prime minister said ruling and opposition leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba during a meeting on Monday agreed the cooperate on the issues.

Dahal’s statement comes at the time when the opposition party has decided to form a shadow Cabinet to check the government’s activities.

In another context, Dahal said post-earthquake reconstruction activities in the district would be expedited in the district.

Chitwan is not among 14 worst hit districts, hence the reconstruction works were delayed, according to him.
