Nepal local polls final phase: Voting underway peacefully in Province 2

Kathmandu, September 18

Voting is underway under the final phase of local level elections in eight districts of Province 2 since 7 am this morning.

The Election Commission says voters of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa are casting their votes. The voters are enthusiastically participating in the voting in all 136 units of the Province, according to Commission.

Total 2 million 664,950 voters are eligible to cast votes today to elect 6,627 people’s representatives. As many as 37,236 candidates are in the fray for those positions.

The voting will conclude at 5 pm today and counting will begin as soon as possible.

So far, no violent incident has been reported.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav also cast his vote at his voting station in Rajbiraj Municipality-2 of Saptari district.
