Nepal Earthquake: Gyawali says re-construction of private houses will be finished by July

Kathmandu, November 20

The reconstruction of private homes damaged by the 2015 earthquake will be completed within this fiscal (July), says the CEO of the National Reconstruction Authority.

Gyawali, who was to address members of Parliament at the Development and Technology Committee, said that 43 per cent of homes destroyed by the quake have been rebuilt and 34 per cent of the homes are under construction. Gyawali, who was talking to the press after the meeting of the committee was postponed due to a lack of quorum, admitted that the integrated settlement plan for select villages might take time to roll out.

Gywali said that it would take at least two years to restore cultural monuments affected by the quake. He informed that all reconstruction work will be completed within the five-year deadline.
