Darchula, August 27

Security officials from districts in western Nepal near the border with China and Chinese personnel based in the Tibetan Autonomous Region have reached a six-point understanding during an informal cooperation meeting in Taklakot, Tibet.

The two-day meeting, which took place after an interval of six years, concluded with officials reaching an agreement on closer cooperation on information exchange, combating international crime and smuggling of narcotics and persons.

The two sides also agreed to hold regular meetings and allow Nepal nationals to travel to Taklakot from Darchula by issuing passes, informed Darchula’s Assistant Chief District Officer Shiva Raj Joshi.  He added that the Chinese side was requested to provide easier access to Man Sarovar and Kailash.
