NCP to form provincial, district committees within one month

Nepal Communist Party office in Dhumbarahi

Kathmandu, July 22

The ruling Nepal Communist Party says it will form seven provincial and 77 district committees within next one month by unifying respective structures of dissolved CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre.

It has been two months since the two parties merged into the powerful NCP. However, owing to lack of a concrete model of unification, provincial and district committees have not been formed yet.

But now, the new party’s statute and regulations have been finalised, giving clear directions for the formation, according to the party’s General Secretary Bishnu Paudel.

The party documents have been sent to the publication and they will be printed soon, according to Paudel.

Meanwhile, the party revised its earlier provision that two chairpersons–KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–chair the party in turns till the next general convention. According to the new provision, both of them will chair all meetings.

Oli and Dahal will be in the first and second positions of the party’s pecking order respectively.
