NCP postpones Secretariat meeting till Tuesday

File: A meeting of Nepal Communist Party Secretariat

Kathmandu, November 26

The Nepal Communist Party has postponed its Secretariat meeting scheduled for Monday citing lack of preparations.

The meeting will not be held on Tuesday, according to the party sources.

It has been learned that the top leadership decided to defer the meeting so as to finalise the list of responsibilities to all 441 Central Committee members. The top leaders have planned to table it in the Secretariat meeting seeking endorsement.

Some leaders of the party, especially those close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, had demanded that the politburo be formed before the work division of central leaders. However, two chairs–KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–are not in the mood to form the politburo anytime soon, according to a leader.

Once the Secretariat will endorse the names with their respective new responsibilities, the decision will be forwarded to the Standing Committee and this committee also has to pass the decision, informs leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha.
