NC-Maoist no-trust vote against Oli govt meant to scuttle China Prez’s Nepal visit: Minister Rai

Sherdhan-Rai

Kathmandu, July 21

Minister for Information and Communications, Sher Dhan Rai, said on Thursday that the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre were plotting to topple the KP Oli government in a bid to thwart the visit of President of China, Xi Jinping, to Nepal.

Minister Rai explained: Chinense President’s visit to Nepal will open doors for national economic development. Fearing that credit for this will go to the CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre are trying to topple this government.

Congress and the Maoist party forged an alliance with the malafide intention of replacing this government, Rai said, adding that the alliance formed in ‘a dark room’ will do the country no good.

At the same time, Rai accused Speaker Onsari Gharti of failing to play an impartial role in the whole affair. Political parties are on a collision course because Speaker failed to play an impartial role, Rai said, adding: This has raised questions on the dignity of the Parliament.
