Kathmandu, April 11

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) says it will mobilise around 4,000 personnel for National Economic Census going to be carried out for the first time in Nepal.

The National Economic Census is going to be carried out from April 14.

The CBS has already imparted necessary training to 4,000 surveyors for this purpose.

This economic survey intends to keep records of all enterprises run by the government and every business and industry run by the private sector from large scale enterprises to small firms. The CBS will collect the details of employment status of a person, his/her property or investment and debt along with every other detail of small and micro enterprises and entrepreneurs.

It is estimated that it would take around five years to release the final report of the economic details collected across the country. District Economic Coordination Committee has been formed in every district under the leadership of Chief District Officer for the task.

Director General of the CBS, Suman Raj Aryal, said that the economic census would help the government formulate necessary policies to make the country prosperous.
