Kavre, January 5
A monitoring team deployed from the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology has decided to shut down three liquefied petroleum gas bottling plants operated in Kavrepalanchok district.
The team monitored bottling plants of Sagar Gas, Chandi Gas and Surya Gas in Banepa-10 of the district today and decided to shut all of them down claiming they did not meet standards.
The Bureau’s Director Manoj Kumar Upadhyaya says the companies will not be allowed to operate as they failed to obtain the NS mark and they have been supplying unsafe and old cylinders to the market.
The monitoring team, however, returned to Kathmandu without inspecting two other bottling plants operated nearby: Ugrachandi Gas Udyog and Himal Gas Udyog.
Earlier, the Bureau had decided to launch an extensive monitoring campaign from today and close down all plants which fail to meet safety standards set by the government.
