Minister for Agricultural Development, Land Management and Cooperatives Chakrapani Khanal on Sunday unveiled a 58-point plan of action, according to which the government aims at making Nepal independent in agricultural products.

The Minister says his plan of action will help the government focus on qualitative development of agriculture, livestock development, land management and cooperatives sectors so that people’s anticipations for development and prosperity will get fulfilled.

In the plan, the Minister has promised to formulate and implement new laws and policies in order to ensure people’s right to food, food security and food sovereignty in line with the country’s new federal structure. Likewise, the composition of Farmers’ Commission will be updated whereas other related documents will also be amended.

The Minister says each of seven provinces will have a food store house with 100,000 metric tonne capacity and the public private partnership model will be uploaded for that.
