Minister Pandit: Bureaucrats not reporting to work will face action from Sunday

Biratnagar, March 21

Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit says his ministry will take action against bureacrats who do not report to work, from Sunday.

Minister Pandit, who arrived in Biratnagar on Wednesday, said that civil servants who do not obey government orders can be sacked in accordance with the Civil Service Act.

“Civil servants must report to work wherever they are sent, those who do not do so will face action.” He said that his government knows that only 78 per cent of civil servants are reporting to their workstations, and that was not acceptable. The government is not in favour of bidding farewell to civil servants through a voluntary retirement scheme as it needs to fill positions at different levels of government.

Minister Pandit added that any office chief who tries to interfere with the transfer system will also be held accountable.
