Kathmandu, April 10
The Melamchi Water Supply Project says it has completed the construction of tunnel to supply drinking water from Melamchi of Sindhupalchok district to Kathmandu Valley.
The final section of the tunnel (7.5-km Sindhu-Gyaltung) achieved breakthrough today. However, the completion will be announced amidst a formal programme on Thursday.
Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Bina Magar, however, shared with journalists at the Ministry today that the construction works have been over.
She added that people of Kathmandu Valley will get an access to water by Dashain this year (around October).
The tunnel construction under the ambitious project had begun in 2010 June. It was divided into three sections.
