Maoist Centre expels three leaders for anti-unification activities

L-R: Bishwa Bhakta Dulal, Gopal Kiranti and Lokendra Bista Magar

Kathmandu, February 23

The CPN-Maoist Centre, which is preparing for a merger with the CPN-UML, on Thursday expelled three of its central leaders accusing them of carrying out activities against the proposed unification.

A meeting of the party’s Central Secretariat held on Thursday evening decided to remove Gopal Kiranti, Bishwa Bhakta Dulal ‘Aahuti’ and Lokendra Bista Magar from the party. The three leaders had been making public statements and training their cadres against the party leadership’s plan for unification.

Further, the leaders were seen participating in functions organised by Maoist parties led by Mohan Baidya and Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’.

Meanwhile, one of the three leaders, Kiranti issued an statement on Friday morning to say that he would ‘thank’ party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for the action. He stated that he and his group had made a ‘revolutionary’ decision to reform the party, and the action taken against them were the action against ‘the science of Maoism’ and the issue of identity politics.
