The ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Centre has elected its Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal the party’s parliamentary party leader.

A meeting of the parliamentary party held in Singhadarbar of Kathmandu today elected Dahal unopposed.

Meanwhile, the party distributed election certificates to its House of Representatives members elected under the proportional representation voting system.

During the meeting, Dahal had briefed the party’s lawmakers about recent talks held with the CPN-UML for the proposed merger of two parties. Lawmaker Devendra Paudel says Dahal, however, did not elaborate recent developments in detail.

He also informed that he was going to meet UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to discuss the issue today as well.
