Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) leader Mahantha Thakur has said that ensuring endorsement of the constitution amendment bill is the government’s responsibility as it had made a commitment before the agitating party.

He also informs the party will participate in local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18 only after the amendment.

At a press conference organised here today, Thakur accused the government of not being sensitive to endorse the proposal by taking the opposition into confidence.

Stressing that the number of local units should be increased by a political decision, he urged the Council of Ministers to endorse the demands of RJPN including declaring martyrdom to those killed in different movements in Madhesh in the past and providing treatment and medicines to the injured.

Meanwhile, the RJPN’s central committee meeting has begun today to take official decision whether or not to participate in the September 18 polls.
