The CPN-Maoist Centre has hinted that it will not leave the government anytime soon as it had said earlier.
Though Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has already relieved Maoist ministers of their portfolios, the party’s spokesperson Pampha Bhusal says the party has not thought about leaving the government.
Earlier last week, the party had decided to quit the government, but had withdrawn it at the last moment citing they feared the PM was planning to postpone the elections and they would stay in the government to prevent the delay in polls.
Later, some Maoist leaders had said they would leave the government after filing nominations for the first phase of polls.
Maoist leader Haribol Gajurel says the party decided not to leave the government for now as a conversation between PM Deuba and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was positive.
“The discussions with Sher Bahadurji are positive,” he says, “The situation is easier than earlier now.”
