Lawmaker Ashok Rai finds Kanchanpur firing mysterious, urges government to tell truth

Kathmandu, March 10

Lawmakers from the Federal Alliance on Friday shouted slogans in the Parliament, demanding action against those behind the Saptari killings.

After Ashok Raj, leader of the FA constituent Federal Socialist Forum, addressed the House, FA lawmakers walked to the rostrum and shouted slogans seeking action against the guilty.

‘In case of the SSB shooting at Kanchanpur, in which a person is said to have died, the Indian Embassy has claimed that there was no firing. The incident is mysterious. The government should tell the House the truth’

Rai said: In case of the SSB shooting at Kanchanpur, in which a person is said to have died, the Indian Embassy has claimed that there was no firing.

He then went on to describe the incident as mysterious, demanding that the government tell the ‘truth’ to the Parliament. In the Saptari incident, there was indiscriminate use of force, Rai said, calling for action against the guilty.

For his part, Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramkrishna Yadav objected, stating that the Parliament was in session amid sloganeering. He pointed that the UML protest had obstructed Parliament proceedings. After that, Speaker Onsari Gharti stopped the proceedings and let CPN-UML lawmaker Prem Bahadur Ale speak at the zero hour.

Ale pointed: The government remained a mute spectator when a Nepali died as Indian security personnel opened fire in Kanchanpur.

He demanded that the government investigate the incident.
