Kathmandu, November 12

Medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC says judiciary cannot indulge in corruption by threatening media with the contempt of court.

In response to a recent Supreme Court order in the name of Tribhuvan University  not to implement the decision to scrap the affiliation of controversial Kathmandu National Medical College, Dr KC at a press meet today said the decision lowered the dignity of court.

He said anarchy in judiciary could not be tolerated for a long time, warning he might resort to a protest any time to protect justice.

Meanwhile, the veteran orthopaedic surgeon commented that the enactment of Medical Education Ordinance was just a transitory victory and the real victory would be achieved when Parliament would endorse the proposed Medical Education Bill.

Meanwhile, he said his other demands including action against TU officials involved in anomalies were yet to be fulfilled.

Over past few years, Dr KC has staged 13 rounds of fast-unto-death demanding various reforms in Nepal’s medical education sector.
