Kathmandu, May 17

A joint meeting of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre comprising top leaders of both parties has endorsed the draft statute of the party that they want to form after the merger.

The two parties are all set to announce the unification amidst a press meet in Kathmandu later this afternoon.

Few hours before the announcement, top leaders of the ruling parties gathered at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar for the Party Unification Coordination Committee meeting and endorsed the statute prepared by a joint task force.

Meanwhile, both the parties are scheduled to organise their central committee meetings separately today to decide their dissolution.

Following that, the two parties will hold a joint meeting to formalise the establishment of new party. The announcement will be made public after the meeting.

They will also apply for the registration of new party at the Election Commission today itself.
