Kathmandu, May 16

Judicial Council member Ram Prasad Sitaula, who represents Nepal Bar Association to the Council, has finally agreed to come to a meeting of the Association as summoned.

Earlier, Sitaula, who was unhappy with the newly elected leadership of the umbrella organisation of Nepali lawyers, had said he would not give any heed to the letter sent by the Association for the meeting. Reportedly he had misbehaved with and verbally abused president Chandreshwar Shrestha at a function organised on the occasion of National Law Day last week.

Following the incident, the Association was preparing to recall him from the Council.

However, former presidents of the Association including Shambhu Thapa, Bishwa Kanta Mainali, Harihar Dahal and Prem Bahadur Khadka suggested he be given the second letter for a meeting.

Accordingly, the Association handed him over the second letter on Tuesday, and he agreed to come for a discussion, according to the Association’s treasurer Rudra Pokharel.
