Ishwar Pokharel assigned to take up PM’s job in Oli’s absence

Kathmandu, April 6

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has assigned Minister for Defence, Ishwar Pokharel, to work as the acting prime  minister in the absence of PM KP Sharma Oli.

Oli has left for New Delhi this morning on a three-day state visit to India.

Pokharel, also the General Secretary of the CPN-UML, is the second man in the Oli-led government. He has already served as a deputy prime minister earlier.

The President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, says Pokharel has been assigned to carry out day-to-day job of the Prime Minister till Oli will be back.

Oli  will return home on Sunday.
