Indian Home Minister assures security of Nepalis near border

Nepal’s former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal meets Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh, in New Delhi, on Friday, September 7, 2018.

Kathmandu, September 7

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh says he will direct officials working in the areas bordering with Nepal to make sure that Nepalis do not face any security threat from the Indian side.

Singh’s assurance follows reports of robbery and other criminal cases near Nepal-India border recently.

As he received Nepal’s former Prime Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to his office today, Singh said his government would address complaints of Nepali citizens effectively.

Earlier, Nepali workers in New Delhi had requested Dahal to raise concerns about the security threats in his meetings with political leaders and officials in India.

Meanwhile, the two leaders also discussed increasing cooperation between the two countries as the ties between them are improving of late.

Dahal is in New Delhi since Thursday.
