IGP appointment row: DIG Silwal moves court

Kathmandu, April 11

DIG Nawaraj Silwal, one of the three officers who were in contention for the post of police chief, has moved the Supreme Court demanding that he be appointed Inspector General.

Preliminary hearing on the writ petition, which was registered on Tuesday, has been scheduled for Wednesday.

Similarly, Siwal is learnt to be preparing to file a contempt of court petition against the government claiming that it neglected an earlier court verdict on the appointment of IGP.

The government on Monday appointed Prakash Aryal, the second senior-most officer in the force, to the post of Inspector General.

Silwal has demanded that the apointment be anulled and he be appointed to the position.
