House committee seeks clarifications from 2 ministers for snubbing meeting

A public hearing organised by the Public Accounts Committee in Bhairahawa, on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

Bhairahawa, September 5

The Chair of Public Accounts Committee in Parliament says he will seek clarifications from two ministers on why they did not attend the Committee’s public hearing programme organised to discuss two national priority projects today.

Lawmaker Dor Prasad Upadhyaya says a public hearing was organised in Bhairahawa today to discuss progress made in the construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport  and Butwal-Belahiya six-lane road in Rupandehi district.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jitendra Narayan Dev and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bir Bahadur Balayer had been invited to the programme, but neither of them attended.

Upadhyaya further says the duo even did not inform the Committee about the absence.

Despite the ministers’ absence, the Committee, however, conducted the public hearing today.

The Committee has currently deployed a 28-member team to monitor the projects.
