With just over a week left for the crucial second round of elections in areas including Madhesh, the government has given responsibility to National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to provide Rs 15,000 in relief to each family affected from floods in this year in the Tarai districts.

The government has decided to distribute relief to a total of 41,626 households for the complete loss of their houses due to floods and inundation, state-owned news agency RSS reports. It says that the government has also forwarded a plan to provide additional amount to buy warm clothes for all flood-hit households.

The District Disaster Management Committee of the districts concerned would distribute the money through the NRA. A total of 134 people had lost their lives in 18 worst-hit districts from flood this year.
