Kathmandu, May 15

The government of Nepal on Wednesday opened a one point service centre in its bid to provide smooth services related to industrial firm establishment and operation through the one door system.

The centre is authorised to provide permits to firms, approve memorandums of understanding and agreements, allow investments and facilitate other related tasks.

It will work under the Director General of the Department of Industry. For now, 19 staff have been deployed at the centre whereas the construction of necessary infrastructures is ongoing.

The centre has eight units; namely: registration, environment, foreign currency exchange facilitation, visa facilitation, infrastructure, land administration, customs and revenues, and administration and law, according to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

Likewise, there are representatives of concerned ministries and departments, public service utilities and Nepal Rastra Bank.

It has been learned that the Cabinet has already approved a draft of the guideline to run the centre in the one door system.

Industrialists and businesspersons of the country had been demanding for such a centre since some years ago.
