Govt is not as successful as expected, but we don’t have any alternative: Dahal

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Pokhara, December 11

The chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has conceded that the incumbent government led by his party’s another chairman KP Sharma Oli has not become as successful as expected.

He, however, says no one has to seek for any alternative to the government; rather they should make efforts towards making it more successful.

Speaking with journalists in Sikles village of Madi Rural Municipality, near Pokhara, in Kaski district, on Tuesday morning, Dahal said, “We have to achieve development and prosperity through this government.”

Nevertheless, the former prime minister accepted that the government could not conclude various efforts it against corruption, gold smuggling and transport syndicates among other problems in the country. He said his party would review the government’s performance.

On the other hand, the government did a commendable job in strengthening diplomatic relations and formulate new laws, according to him.

“This government has made a historical achievement in the country’s ties with India. Agreements on years-long inundation and East-West Railway have been made,” Dahal claimed, “Likewise, China’s proposal of constructing four dry ports will transform Nepal from a land-locked to land-linked country.”

In another context, Dahal said the government would increase the elderly allowance soon.
