Govt doesn’t have alternative to meeting Dr KC’s demands: Former CJ Karki

Kathmandu, January 30

Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has said the government does not have any alternative to meeting demands raised by medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC.

Karki went to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death demanding corrections in the National Medical Education Bill as per an agreement signed with him earlier, and expressed solidarity.

On the occasion, Karki said Dr KC had contributed a lot to recent reforms in Nepal’s medical education sector, adding meeting his demands would result in the victory of the country.

“Dr KC is a saint, he does require anything for himself,” she said, “Maybe the Prime Minister also wants fulfilment of Dr KC’s demands in his heart.”

She urged the government to meet the demands at the earliest.
