Kathmandu, June 20
A special team formed to investigate into the organised gold smuggling activities in Nepal on Tuesday detained trader Bimal Poddar for his alleged involvement into the racket.
He was arrested from Dillibazaar area of Kathmandu on Tuesday evening, according to a Nepal Police source.
Sources, however, have not divulged details about his involvement as further investigation is underway.
It has been learned that the committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs is recording his statements at the Ministry today.
Earlier, based on the investigation carried out by the committee, the Morang District Attorney Office had filed a case against 63 persons including former and current police officials, traders and alleged smugglers among others.
