Kathmandu, September 14

Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising says he will establish a system capable of distributing 12,000 megawatt power within next 10 years.

Organising a press conference to share progress made by the Authority in past one year since Ghising took over the leadership, he also shared that his priority would be to increase power production in the country and improve distribution system.

“After few years, we will have to worry about using produced electricity. Therefore, we will develop networks and mechanisms to distribute as much as 12,000 megawatt power in major urban and industrial areas and consume the electricity within the country at the maximum.”

He said the electricity leakage would come down by three per cent next year.

Meanwhile, Ghising announced that the Authority would establish online bill payment and smart metres soon.
