Gauchan murder: Minister assures taking demand for martyrdom status to Cabinet

Home Minister Janardan Sharma has assured the family of construction entrepreneur Sharad Kumar Gauchan that he would take the family’s demand about declaring Gauchan a martyr to the Cabinet for a decision.

After the assurance, the family members and entrepreneurs have agreed to receive the body today for funeral.

The President of Federation of Contractors Association of Nepal was shot dead in the broad daylight on Monday and the family members were demanding that he be declared a martyr.

The victim’s uncle Omkar Gauchan says they are collecting the body today as the Home Minister met them on Wednesday and assured meeting other demands also including providing security to the entrepreneurs and investigating into the case.

Gauchan’s body will be kept at the FCAN office in Anamnagar for final tributes before the funeral.

Meanwhile, the entrepreneurs have said they will continue staging different forms of protest today and tomorrow also.
