Gagan Thapa’s advice to PM Oli: Stop acting like preacher

Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa

Kathmandu, August 21

Nepali Congress leader and former minister Gagan Thapa has advised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to stop making rounds to the provinces and acting like a preacher.

Thapa, who was speaking in Parliament, said the Prime Minister must get to work instead of giving speeches and interviews. He added that the fate of the Prime Minister is linked with the success of federalism in the country. “If federalism fails, the Prime Minister will not be deemed successful,” he added.

Thapa accused the Prime Minister of not standing firmly in favour of federalism. “KP Oli, the communist leader from Jhapa, can speak against federalism, but Prime Minister of Nepal KP Oli can’t do that.”

The lawmaker alleged that the government is sitting on important work that needs to be expedited. “The Natural Resources and Finance Commission envisaged by the constitution is yet to be established. Does the Prime Minister know how important the commission is?” he asked.
