Major Nepali and English newspaper dailies published from Kathmandu Valley on Sunday have given priority to a host of issues. After Nepal Communist Party senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal organised a tea party for the party’s Standing Committee members on Thursday and expressed his dissatisfaction over the party leadership, the wide gap between the leaders in the ruling party has surfaced; and the newspapers continue to discuss various dimensions of the party leadership.

Meanwhile, there are some stories about increasing incidents of violence against women. Successful conversations of Nepal government with India on deployment of Nepali gas bullets for fuel supply and with Malaysia on reopening the stranded recruitment of Nepali migrant workers has also been featured on the front pages of Kathmandu newspapers today.

Kantipur, Nagarik, The Kathmandu Post, Republica and The Himalayan Times have published reports about surfaced differences between Prime Minister and NCP Chairman KP Sharma Oli and the party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Following Nepal’s expressed dissatisfaction about the leadership, Oli, who is currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, told reporters that the party as well as the country was not at stake as he was coming back to Nepal soon.

Nepali gas bullets allowed supplying fuel from India, finally

Officials of Nepal and India have agreed to let Nepali gas bullets go to India and supply liquefied petroleum gas to Nepal smoothly as demanded by Nepali entrepreneurs for over one year, reports Abhiyan.

The agreement was made between Commerce and Supplies Minister Matrika Yadav and his Indian counterpart Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday, according to the report.

Malaysian employers to cover costs of Nepali migrants’ employment

Karobar and Nagarik report that the Kuala Lumpur government has agreed that employers cover all costs involved in recruitment of Nepali migrant workers.

Officials of the two countries held a meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Friday and agreed to resume the recruitment that has been stalled for past four months, Nagarik reports, adding, Malaysian officials will come to Kathmandu after around two weeks to sign an agreement in this regard.

It has been three months since the Eminent Persons’ Group on Nepal-India Relations has sought time from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to submit its final report. However, the leader continues to ignore the request though he has already visited Nepal once, reports Naya Patrika in its lead story.

The group comprising four persons from each of two countries has prepared the report suggesting major revisions to key treaties between the neighbours.

Number of govt school students decreases

The number of students at government/community schools across the country is decreasing gradually over past few years, Kantipur reports in a three column story.

Of total school students, 75 percent go to government schools and 25 to private schools. Last year, the ratio was 82:18, and it was 84:16 the previous year.

560,000 already left Kathmandu for Dashain

Karobar reports in its lead story that more than 560,000 people have left Kathmandu Valley in past one week as the biggest festival of Nepalis is coming closer. Meanwhile, around 40,000 tickets have been booked for the trip to districts outside Kathmandu during Dashain days.

The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has expected that around two to three million people leave Kathmandu for Dashain this year.

Karnali Province plans to operate airline

The provincial government in Karnali has planned to own and operate its own airline very soon, reports Rapublica in a three column story.

Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi made the announcement on Saturday that the Karnali Airlines would be established for internal services and inter-province connectivity.

“We have held discussions with the Chinese government and aviation entrepreneurs to purchase medium sized aircraft,” he said after returning from a weeklong trip to China.
