Finance Minister stresses ‘quality increase’ in revenue

Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has directed revenue officers for a ‘quality increase’ in revenue collection by expanding the tax range.

During his visit to the Inland Revenue Office in Bharatpur today, he directed the office employees to focus on quality growth in revenue.

He also instructed for the full enforcement of Finance Act-2075 BS. The Act has provisions for tax discounts on certain conditions.

The minister also asked the employees for feedback and suggestions on how to improve the existing tax system, said office chief Shuba Prasad Rijal.

Similarly, Revenue Secretary Lal Shanker Ghimire stressed effective market monitoring.

A total of 51,000 taxpayers are associated with the Inland Revenue Office in Bharatpur.

In the current fiscal year, it has set a target of collecting Rs 30 billion in revenue and has already collected Rs 20 billion.
