Explosive goes off at UML ward chair candidate’s house in Khotang

A bomb went off at the residence of CPN-UML candidate for the post of chairperson of Ward 8 in Rupakot Majuwagadhi Municipality, Khotang last night inflicting serious injuries to a member of the family.

The explosion took place at the residence of UML candidate Lila Chauhan in Dorpachiuridanda. The bomb exploded when Lila’s brother Tek Bahadur and daughter-in-law Sakuntala were having dinner in the kitchen along with their eight-month-old infant.

Sakuntala was seriously hurt in the explosion. Both her legs were charred in the attack.

According to a local eye witness, an unidentified group hurled a bomb at the house at first. After it did not work, the second bomb was pitched inside the house.

UML Khotang Chair, Babi Chamling, claimed that the bomb attack was targeted at the candidate.
