Energy Minister assures share of hydropower projects to every Nepali family

Barsha Man Pun

Kathmandu, August 17

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun says each family living in the country will get an opportunity to make investments in hydropower projects soon.

He says the government is making preparations to let each of around 5.6 million households get share of hydropower projects.

Addressing a special function organised on the occasion of 33rd anniversary of Nepal Electricity Authority in Kathmandu today, Minister Pun said, “The government’s dream of bringing prosperity to each Nepali’s house will come true with the investment in energy sector.”

In another context, he said the government would award hydropower project contracts through competition, not on the basis of political power and pressure.

Awarding contracts on the basis of political power play results in delay in construction works and more cost, according to him.

The Minister appreciated staff of the Authority for ending the regular power outage, but also urged them to improve their working style further.
