Election for Vice-president on March 23

The Election Commission (EC) has set March 23 as the day for holding the election of  the Vice-president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Voting is to take place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Federal Parliament Building (International Convention Center) in New Baneshwor. As per the election schedule finalised by the EC, the voters’ list will be made public on Thursday and the day for filing candidacy has been set for March 17.

The final list of candidates will be published on March 18. According to the constitution, the EC should fix the date for the election of Vice President after the announcement of the presidential election results.

As per the constitution, the candidates for the election of a Vice-president shall be from a different gender or community than the individual elected to the post of President.
