Kathmandu, January 23

The Election Commission on Tuesday informed political parties about procedures of National Assembly elections scheduled for February 7.

The Commission had invited all political parties registered for the polls to the Commission office in Kanti Path today to let them know how the polls would be conducted and how the votes would be counted.

On the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav requested all parties to cooperate with the Commission’s bid to hold the polls in a free and fair manner. Yadav also drew the attention of the parties to educate voters about the poll procedures.

Citing that it is political parties’ duty to ensure implementation of the election code of conduct, Yadav warned of action in cases of violation of the code.

According to Yadav, the Commission would publish the results within two days of voting.

Total 21 parties are contesting the polls.
