Kathmandu, September 6
Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital’s senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC will begin another indefinite hunger strike today, demanding that agreements signed with him earlier be implemented.
Issuing a statement 10 days ago, Dr KC had warned that he would stage the fast-unt0-death from today if the demands were not met.
It will be Dr KC’s 12th hunger strike in past few years with similar demands.
This time, he has also demanded that the Tribhuvan University scrap the affiliation granted to the Kathmandu National Medical College. The TU Executive Council, currently, has put the affiliation on hold after media and other stakeholders claimed the College did not have sufficient infrastructures.
Around three weeks ago, he had ended the 11th strike claiming it was just ‘suspension’ considering the emergency situations created in many parts of the country due to floods and landslides.
Then, he had visited some villages of Terai to operate health camps for flood victims.
